Bart the Heart is a fun picture book that teaches children how their heart really works—straight from the heart himself! Bart introduces kids to his four chambers, partners with Leo the Lung to deliver oxygen, and explains how our heart works while simple language makes core anatomy and circulation easy to understand. Written by dual board-certified physician Dr. Raimy Amasha and radiology professional Amy McClarney, this medically accurate yet playful book helps children build early STEM knowledge and healthy-heart habits, ending with a gentle reminder to treat their heart kindly with good food, exercise, and self-care.

As a physician and radiographer, we’ve always been amazed by how curious children are about things work- including the human body. They ask wonderful questions- why their heart beats faster when they run, how bones heal, or what makes them sneeze. Yet most explanations are written for adults or feel like textbooks. We wanted to create a book that makes anatomy exciting, playful, and easy to understand, so kids can discover that their bodies are incredible machines built for adventure! We hope you enjoy!
